Chiropractic is a natural method of treatment that aims to relieve pain and promote overall well-being by restoring movement and function to the body's joints, muscles, and nerves. Although the spine is the primary focus of chiropractic, the treatment also involves the joints and muscles of the entire body. The nervous system is a crucial component of chiropractic, and by alleviating pressure on the nerves as they enter and exit between spinal segments, chiropractic adjustments can alleviate pain, numbness, tingling, and other bodily dysfunctions.Chiropractic treatment involves an adjustment or manipulation, which is a method of treatment used by chiropractors to restore the body's natural alignment.
The term chiropractic is derived from the Latin words "practic" and "chiro", which mean to do work by hand. While adjustments are typically performed by hand, other methods may be used to accommodate individual needs and preferences. At BSCM, an Activator and special tables may be utilized when necessary to ensure that patients receive the most effective treatment possible. Prior to any treatment being performed, a thorough consultation and examination is conducted to determine the best course of action. In some cases, X-rays may be required to make an informed decision, and in those instances, patients will be referred to a nearby X-ray facility. OHIP covers the cost of X-rays ordered by chiropractors.
